Clean what the next person will inspect
Move-out cleaning is not the same as a normal weekly clean. The space is empty, so small details stand out more: drawer crumbs, cabinet fronts, baseboards, bathroom edges, and floor lines.
The core move-out checklist
The right checklist depends on the property, but these areas are usually worth reviewing before a walkthrough or key handoff.
- Kitchen counters, sink, appliance exteriors, cabinet fronts, and inside empty cabinets.
- Bathroom sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, mirrors, counters, and fixtures.
- Baseboards, doors, handles, switch plates, window sills, and visible ledges.
- Closets, shelves, hard floors, carpeted areas, and remaining debris.
When to schedule the clean
Book the move-out clean after belongings are removed and before the final walkthrough, photos, or new occupant arrival. Empty rooms make the work more thorough and the quote easier to scope.
